Inspiration into Action
Erin Towns travels the world documenting the interconnectedness of human and environmental worlds using unique perspectives that bring stories to life. Through her visual art, Erin strives to inspire her students and the general public into action to address contemporary global environmental and social issues.
Erin is a teacher, visual artist, and documentary photographer from Augusta. Erin is a PolarTREC Educator, National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellow and alumni of global professional development programs including Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Program, Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Kazakhstan, Fulbright Hays Seminars Abroad China, German-American Exchange Commission’s Education in Germany Program, and Fulbright Collaborative Groups Abroad Projects Ethiopia. Courses taught address global and environmental issues and value using a combination of inquiry-based social studies, visual arts, and science methodologies.
Erin is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Visual Science Communication and Earth and Climate Science at the University of Maine Orono studying interdisciplinary Arctic curriculum design, visual science communication, and glaciology as she continues to teach at Edward Little High School.
