Her Happy Place
Shirley Anderson has always loved to paint, and is primarily a self-taught artist. Her beautiful paintings have been sold at art shows across the state of Maine. She paints in her home studio in Manchester, with both acrylics and oils as her media of choice. Shirley paints what she thinks is beautiful. She paints what makes her happy. Sea birds, lighthouses and dog portraits are among her specialties. She conducts paint classes to help others learn to paint while having fun together with friends, and also produces commissioned works for clients on occasion. She takes pride in the diversity of her portfolio of work.
Painting for Shirley Anderson is a way to escape from everyday life. She says it takes her directly to her happy place, the place where nothing else matters but the right color and the right brush strokes. Weekend day trips along the Maine coast with her husband are her inspiration. Salty air and crashing waves are the first steps in the direction of her happy place.
