Surprise Me

Susan Newkirk-Sanborn was born and raised in Maine, and ever longs to be in the woods and by the water. Her favorite subjects are trees, flowers, animals, and water. Most of Susan's paintings are watercolors on paper; she has fun using rice paper because the texture and wax resist and provide many surprises. She is currently writing and illustrating an animal alphabet book using watercolor paintings with a Maine coon cat and an osprey as its main characters. Of this she says she made a rookie mistake - a clam would have been easier to paint.
