Thomastine Hollows
Pownal, Maine
The Working Wharfs of Maine
Thomastine Hollows has forever been creating art of all kinds. Her imagination stems from growing up spending every weekend on the Maine waterfronts, going with her dad to photograph boats and lighthouses and with her mom to explore hidden gardens that outlined views of the Atlantic. Painting scenes of Maine's working waterfront are interpretations of the abstract nature found in fishing villages and lobster wharfs. Thomastine uses bright colors, hand carved floral and fish stamping, and a visual flow to tell a story about the blue collar culture of Maine and how beautiful yet hard the ocean and its entities can be. Thomastine Hollows can be found working on lobster boats, exploring hidden islands, and indulging in ghost stories.
