Meet the Artist
Zev Keisch
Damariscotta, Maine
Painter & Poet
Zev Keisch began painting watercolors during the pandemic after a series of trips to Spain. A quick study, he learned online from YouTube videos, producing over 400 watercolors from 2019 to 2021. He took inspiration from the master impressionists, abstractionists & surrealists like Miró, Picasso, Chagall, and Dali, among others, as he toured museums in Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, and the Salvador Dali museum in Figueroa. In his professional life Keisch was a pastry chef who once worked for Wolfgang Puck. He had also been a chauffeur, a certified addictions counselor, bakery owner & dessert consultant for restaurants, as well as a real estate agent at Bond in NYC where he helped develop Bond University & trained over 500 agents during his 7-year tenure.
A fan of J.R.R. Tolkien and a poet since grade school, Zev Keisch was a true artist. Sadly, he died suddenly on August 2, 2021 from a heart attack at the age of 63. Much of Zev Keisch's works are landscapes inspired by Maine’s rural beauty, and have been offered through the Gallery of Maine Art by the artist's beloved widow, Sharon Keisch.
